When my oldest son was in third grade, he began taking piano lessons.
I had no idea at the time that those lessons would become the beginning of his musical journey—or how much music would eventually fill our home.
Over the years, he learned and played many instruments, but the piano remained a constant. There are countless memories tied to those keys—videos of him playing while I sang, the two of us singing together, and moments when he would simply sit down and make up songs of his own.
Eventually, those little made-up songs became compositions of a very talented musician.
But I don’t think I fully realized how much his music had become part of the sound of home until he left for college…
and the music stopped playing.
That piano suddenly represented so much more than an instrument.
Even now, when he comes home for the holidays, one of the first places he goes is to his piano. And once again, music fills the house. ❤️
So when I moved into this home and saw this little space, there really wasn’t a question about what belonged here.
His piano is an important and beautiful part of our family’s story.
It deserved a space of its own. 🎹
