I know it may sound funny to say that doing laundry is one of my favorite things to do.
But for me, it has never really been about the laundry.
There’s something about handing my family a stack of clean, fresh-smelling clothes that makes my heart happy. It’s one of those quiet little ways I’ve always loved taking care of the people I love.
Over the years, I’ve had laundry spaces tucked into unfinished basements—dark, dingy places you went into because you had to. So when I had the opportunity to create this room, I wanted something different.
I wanted it to feel bright. Happy. Warm.
A place I actually enjoyed being in.
And then there are those old irons sitting above the cabinets. 🤎
I’ve had them since I was a teenager. They were kept in a hope chest at my grandmother’s house for years, and eventually they came with me.
But home after home, I never really had a place for them. For many years, they sat packed away in a storage bin in the garage.
When I transformed this laundry room, I actually built the shelf above the cabinets because I finally wanted a place to display them.
And now, there they sit.
Something old and meaningful, finally given a place in something new.
Maybe that’s why this little room means so much to me.
It isn’t just where clothes get washed and folded, it holds pieces of my family, my history, and the simple everyday acts of love that make a house feel like home.
Sometimes the most ordinary rooms carry the sweetest stories. 🤎
Beautifully lived in…Welcome Home!
