THE MASTER CLOSET
A place for everything—and room to breathe.
A once-ordinary closet reimagined into an organized, functional space where simplicity makes getting ready feel easier.
THE STORY BEHIND THE MASTER CLOSET
When I first saw this closet, I knew the wire shelving wasn’t staying. There was simply too much unused space—and I knew this little room could work much harder.
Rather than invest in a custom closet, I measured the space, sketched out a plan and chose a modular system I could assemble and install myself. From there, I kept looking for ways to use every inch—adding hanging space, storage above the cabinets and simple organizational solutions that gave everything a home.
The closet itself never got any bigger. I simply started using the space differently. Today, there’s a place for my clothes, shoes, handbags, jewelry and even the things I don’t need every day. It has the look and function I wanted without the custom-closet price tag.
More than anything, this little room reminds me that creating a home that works beautifully doesn’t always mean needing more space.
Sometimes it simply means making better use of the space you already have.

WHERE I CHOSE TO SPLURGE
Sherwin-Williams—Mindful Gray
Years ago, when my kids were little, I would pick up a gallon of paint for $20-$30 and happily change a room whenever the mood struck. This time, I approached it differently.
I knew I wanted a color and finish I could live with for years, so this was one place I chose to spend a little more for quality and longevity. Mindful Gray was regularly $101.49 per gallon, but I waited for a sale and purchased it for about $60 per gallon.
Creating a home on a budget doesn’t always mean choosing the least expensive option. Sometimes it means knowing where to save, where to splurge, and when to wait for a sale.
